This year’s Islay Sessions will take place 22nd - 24th November, and a very varied and exciting line up is planned.
Kicking off the weekend of events in Port Charlotte conservatory will be VOX, a new line-up with Kim Carnie, Innes White, Laura-Beth Salter and Calum MacCrimmon, performing a mix of traditional and original material.

Playing at the Saturday night concert in Bruichladdich Hall will be Eabhal, Kim Carnie Band and Charlie Stewart Duo.
Eabhal came together while based in the Scottish Outer Hebrides. Alongside traditional songs, contemporary and self-penned tunes, the band draws influence from other musical cultures and unites them with in their music. Hands up for Trad’s, Battle of the Folk Bands 2018 winners and nominees for “Up and Coming Artist” at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards 2018, Eabhal present a blend of energetic instrumental sets and soulful songs.

The voice of THQ Nordic’s ‘Black Mirror’ and with soundtrack and on-screen appearances in Netflix’s ‘Outlaw King’ (due to be released late 2018), it is unsurprising that Kim Carnie with her ‘velvet-voiced authority’ (the Scotsman) has been marked as one to watch.
Her debut EP ‘In Her Company’, featuring some of the best names in the Scottish folk scene, has been widely praised, with national airplay including Mark Radcliffe’s Folk Show, and was Radio nan Gaidheal’s album of the week shortly after its release.
Having gained the title of Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2017, Charlie has also won a Danny Kyle award as part of a duo with Ross Miller, and reached the semi-finals of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards in 2016 with harpist Becky Hill. Charlie can also be found performing with the bands Dosca and Sketch, as well as other projects in Glasgow and further afield.

On Sunday evening in the Port Charlotte Hotel conservatory Claire Hastings will perform a solo set with English and Scots songs accompanied by ukulele. Winner of the prestigious title of BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Trad Musician of the Year 2015, she has since delighted audiences at home and abroad with her “natural, effortless Scots voice” (FRUK).
